Description
The Reservoir Engineer is responsible for optimizing geothermal resource production to maximize long-term, sustainable power generation. Typical tasks include well testing, reservoir modelling, wellbore modelling, process modelling, pump analysis, and pressure transient analysis.
Responsibilities: Reservoir Management
- Responsible for effective organization and timely delivery of well field data and analysis.
- Identify geothermal field improvements and proactively communicate these with team and management.
- Coordinate and prepare reservoir performance updates.
- Close tracking of wellfield and generation key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare and update resource deliverability and generation forecasts.
- Collaborate and work cross-functionally with other key stakeholders to increase the value of company assets.
- Support well drilling, well workover, and well clean out processes on assigned wellfields.
- Build, update, and maintain reservoir models for assigned well fields.
- Wellbore modeling
- Design, monitor performance, and optimize production pumps.
- Analyze performance of production and injection wells, proposing remedial action or replacement as necessary
- Design, plan, and oversee well tests, analyze and interpret well logs results.
- Peer review other engineers' work and conclude on final interpretations and reporting.
Company Support
- Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare clear and concise presentations and reports for peers and management.
- Provide data informed recommendations designed to improve results and longevity of the geothermal resource.
- Completes all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or similar) or Geoscience with applicable experience.
- 1 or more years of experience working in the geothermal industry, or a background in assessment, drilling and operations of underground reservoirs (water, petroleum, hydrocarbons, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced data analytics, tools, simulation modeling and subsurface mapping preferred.
- Working knowledge of advanced well production techniques preferred.
- Additional work experience with (ORC) geothermal power plants is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, while demonstrating responsible behavior and attention to detail.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to travel to remote field locations in difficult weather conditions, walk significant distances outdoor on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to type and view a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Ability to complete domestic travel up to 50%.
- Ablilty to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, and UT.
- Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee may work near moving machinery and may be exposed to fumes, and airborne particles.
- Occasionally, in the field, the employee could be exposed to hazardous, toxic, or caustic chemicals, as well as loud areas and exposed hot piping consistent with geothermal power plant operations.
Location: - Reno, Nevada (relocation support may be available).
