Position Overview:

The Product Marketing Manager will take the lead in developing and executing strategic plans for designated product categories. This role will focus on growing these categories through effective marketing strategies, including determining product assortment, managing supplier relations, and providing sales support in collaboration with internal sourcing, manufacturing teams, and distribution partners. The manager will also focus on analyzing market trends, identifying new opportunities for growth in hospitality, healthcare, and education, and executing plans to expand market share within these verticals.

In this role, the manager will be responsible for developing annual marketing plans and budgets, curating the product portfolio in partnership with sourcing, product development, external suppliers, and sales teams, and ensuring that new products and programs are successfully commercialized. Additionally, the manager will handle vendor relationships to maximize product awareness and category performance, while also providing leadership for the marketing team within the category.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the creation and implementation of strategic plans for category growth and product commercialization.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to build awareness of the company’s product offerings, innovations, and technologies.
  • Work closely with sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution partners to build a relevant and targeted product portfolio for key customer segments.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Corporate Accounts teams to support annual category growth initiatives.
  • Partner with internal teams (Sourcing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, etc.) to ensure smooth commercialization of products and programs.
  • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to enhance product positioning and performance.
  • Manage vendor relationships to maximize product reach and customer engagement both internally and externally.
  • Lead the development of sales tools and training materials to support category growth.
  • Ensure that all product content across internal and external platforms is consistently updated and accurate.
  • Oversee pricing strategies and monitor competitor pricing to optimize market share and profitability.
  • Participate in events and trade shows to represent the company’s products and services.
  • Support communication efforts for internal teams and customers to raise awareness of product offerings.
  • Conduct ongoing business analysis to track category performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Product Marketing Associates to ensure the effective execution of marketing strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or relevant professional experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in product marketing, category management, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a preference for those who have led teams.
  • Familiarity with the hospitality industry and related product categories is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage product categories from concept to execution, including pricing, supplier management, and campaign evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic marketing plans for product categories.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze market trends, pricing, and competitive positioning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information effectively to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with PeopleSoft ERP is a plus.
