Travel Required: Hybrid Status: Exempt Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000 About: Black Women for Wellness is a statewide Reproductive Justice organization committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of Black Women, girls and fems through education, empowerment and advocacy. Black Women for Wellness Action Project is the sister organization and political arm of Black Women for Wellness with a mission to build the political power of Black women, girls and fems in California through advocacy, civic and political engagement. Job Summary: This is a shared position between Black Women for Wellness (BWW) and Black Women for Wellness Action Project (BWWAP) –– 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) affiliate. The Policy Analyst is responsible for helping to develop and implement the policy priorities and platform of the (c)(3) and (c)(4) affiliates. This includes: Policy and budget advocacy and analysis; relationship development with policymakers, key stakeholders, media, and the community to advance policy priorities; and campaign and coalition management. The impact you’ll make: Research, development and implementation of the policy platform* Work with Policy Director to build and maintain BWW as a leader in Reproductive Justice policy at a local, state and federal level* Liaison to external policy partners including but not limited to lobbyist and consultants Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external organizations to advance policy priorities* Work with Policy Director to create policy materials including fact sheets, letter of support, briefs and media materials* Liaison to media surrounding all policy-related information* Measure the effectiveness of policy work/initiatives; define and lead change to meet objectives Serve as an ambassador of BWW’s mission and policy and advocacy priorities; develop and maintain relationships across constituents and stakeholders necessary* Oversee the planning and execution of events such as policy breakfasts and roundtables to encourage dialogue and ultimately better policies, programs, and practices* Liaison with In Our Own Voice - National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda policy team. Collaborate with National and State partners on policy platforms* Grant writing and reporting to funders in the policy area Limited support with BWWAP political and electoral work Frequent travel is required Other office duties as needed *Essential Functions Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration or a related degree required, advanced degree preferred (Masters or J.D.) At least 3 years of relevant experience in non-profit or government Expert understanding of Los Angeles city, California state and federal legislative and budget processes In-depth knowledge on reproductive health, rights and justice and the issues as they impact Black women, girls and fems Deep commitment to social justice, policy advocacy and research Track-record of high-level impact on policy issues in the human services field and/or reproductive health right and justice field Expert knowledge of Microsoft word and PowerPoint or similar programs Experience working in and building coalitions Entrepreneurial, flexible, creative, energetic, hard-working and unafraid of challenges Strong, proactive project management skills with solid experience managing and coordinating research projects, policy analysis, and high-impact advocacy campaigns Experience developing advocacy campaigns EEO Statement: Black Women for Wellness is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
