The Party Host is to organize implement, supervise, and evaluate all facility rentals at the designated site. The Party Hostess works with the branch leadership team to ensure that resources are secured to successfully implement the events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Special Event Staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Serve as role model to members and Y staff, and at all times live the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
- Schedule, engage participants, and supervise YMCA special events, birthday parties and facility rentals at the branch while ensuring the safety of program participants at all time and to ensure that member service is at or above expected levels during events and rentals. Promote YMCA programs to event participants when appropriate.
- Set-up furniture, decorations and equipment prior to events and to clean up following events while integrating healthy lifestyle choices into events when appropriate, considering menu and activities during events. Develops appropriate marketing materials for special events and facility rentals and distributes materials as needed.
- Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
- Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures of YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley.
- Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
- Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
- All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Program Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - High School Diploma
- 2 or more years of experience in event planning, youth programming or related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be able to pass background check
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification*
*Note: The * noted certification training programs must be obtained within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified and are available at YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley if needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is expected to be able to successfully perform all physical activities necessary to perform essential and related functions of the position including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position is expected to be able to perform essential and related functions of the position which can generally be described as light work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to moderate during office hours and moderate to loud during event hours. This position works in a variety of environments which can include but are not limited to, office settings, gymnasiums, and outdoors. This position works a varied work week as determined by the needs required to manage operations and events of which can include working evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate events.
