Scope of Position

The EHS Intern will assist with environmental health and safety (EH&S) duties at one or more manufacturing sites. This position will work directly with EH&S Department to plan and conduct activities designed to support the site’s environmental health and safety programs, and lower EH&S risks and support a strong EH&S culture.

Key projects will be discussed and agreed upon at the start of the internship and will include implementing EH&S program and process changes. This position may conduct and/or participate in EH&S audits to identify program gaps and evaluate risks. At the end of the internship interns will present on their work to the facility leadership.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Interface with EH&S and other manufacturing support groups on a daily basis.
  • With guidance from EH&S, lead the agreed upon projects that will enable the facility to meet its goals and objectives for the duration of the internship.
  • Evaluates EH&S risks and develops recommendations and/or plans to minimize risk.
  • Participate in incident investigation and corrective/preventative actions as needed.
  • Learn EH&S Systems and tools and how they are used in manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

Education:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a  Junior level (or higher) undergraduate in Occupational Safety and Health and/or Environmental Science/Engineering

Additional requirements:

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
