Job Description



The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis reports to the Senior Vice President, Finance & Accounting and works collaboratively with various departments, including but not limited to accounting, capital markets and operations. The Director, FP&A will oversee preparation of operational budgets, forecasting, and analysis while working closely with several key stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting and analysis is performed to assist with key decisions in the operations of the company.

In this position, your main responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining the financial forecast process and ensuring forecasted outcomes are incorporated into the financial plan
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that future strategies, project proposals and business plans are incorporated into the annual budget and rolling forecast 
  • Coordinating industry benchmarking initiatives and gains alignment on establishing and progressing towards benchmarks when justified
  • Designing and maintaining management reporting, dashboards and ad-hoc reporting processes
  • Identifying and maintaining suite of key performance indicators to be used by executives, regional department heads and community level leadership
  • Developing scenario analysis processes and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance strategic planning process
  • Engaging with business case sponsors to test assumptions made in business cases
  • Assisting transactions team with business case evaluation process
  • Leading financial performance reviews with regional and community level leadership
  • Improving and maintaining the annual operating budget process
  • Ensuring continuous improvement for all FP&A processes
  • Contributing to strong financial acumen across the company, through financial mentoring and training

Qualifications



To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance, or commensurate work experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance, accounting or a related field required
  • Experience building or improving budget and forecast process required
  • Yardi Voyager experience beneficial
  • Experience with budgeting systems implementations preferred
